6. Patents and Licensing
For the E-Cat, a national patent has been obtained for Italy – the EU patent is about to be finalized and the world-patent is pending. For the Hyperion range all the patents are pending. There is also the issue of EU safety certificates and they are in the process of being issued by the appropriate authorities. The products will also be subject to the standard test range for commercially available products.
7. Manufacturing and Factories
The first factory is already in the process of being prepared for production. It will be located in Xanthi (northern Greece). It will have a maximum capacity of 300,000 units per year (both kW and MW units) . The second factory will be build in Xanthi during 2012 with a significantly higher production capacity compared to factory one and roughly double the floor space (approximately 12,000 m2). A third factory run by Defkalion’s Praxen branch will be responsible for manufacturing the secret component of the E-Cat – this will also be located in Xanthi. The 1MW Hyperion will be launched in Q4, 2011 and enter the production phase in Q1 of 2012. The head count required to run the first two factories is around 380.
8. Product Range
All of the products in the Hyperion series will only produce heat energy but they can all be combined with third party products to produce electrical energy. Typical examples are steam turbines, micro steam turbines and CHPs (combined heat and power units). Notably all kW products will fit in a 55x45x35 cm casing. All MW products will be fitted inside a radius 20″ container.
9. Markets
The segments below are indicative for the Greek market:

10. Representation and Rights
Defkalion will sell/license the rights to manufacture the products (early stage – Hyperions), while the kernel of the product, namely the E-Cat, will be manufactured in Greece and shipped in a plug-and-play format. Defkalion will earn a fixed royalty per unit sold by the licensees. In terms of exclusivity, it will depend on the size of the country – it will be far more easier to obtain an exclusivity contract in a small country since it in this case requires the licensee to prove that they can meet the estimated internal demand.
