There is much speculation and estimation concerning just how much emissions will be reduces across the planet with the use of various forms of alternative energy. With solar and wind power, we’ve already seen a great reduction of emissions in certain areas.
There is another area in which emissions are reduced, and that is through industrial applications that implement waste heat recovery systems. Systems that are already in use save the business owners $5 billion a year. That’s a pretty significant savings in dollar amounts.
However, that is not the only savings. While dollars are usually the “bottom line”, the reduction of emissions is the true assessment of value. The waste heat recovery already reduces NoX emissions by at least 400,000 tons every year, and reduces SO2 emissions by over 900,000 tons a year. According to the US Clean Heat and Power Association, this type of technology also keeps 35 MILLION tons of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere.
How does the use of waste heat impact the application of the E-Cat? Because the technology is there to use heat for power. Engines and generators are already in place for the purpose of converting heat to power. Industrial applications for the E-Cat should be much easier to implement with existing recovery technology in place.
